Davido Set To Pull A 'Frank Ocean' With His Album [PICS]

Frank Ocean finally dropped two albums last weekend after a near four year wait for any material from him to hit the shelves. Davido seems to be taking the same route with the planned release of a double Son of Mercy EP next month, September, nearly four years after his OBO: Genesis debut album dropped in 2012.

The singer inked a global distribution deal with Sony earlier this year which led to the shelving of plans to release Baddest, his planned sophomore project. However, all stops are currently being pulled for Davido to release his Son of Mercy EP next month.

According to a source close to the singer, SOM will serve as Davido’s introductory project into the international markets he can now venture into thanks to a glossy distribution deal with SonyATV.

Davido will be looking to impress his new investors with this debut project and we don’t doubt that he is on the right track with that ambition. The singer has been reported to be working with American singer Tinashe, rapper Young Thug, trap music duo Rae Sremudd and Jamaican wunderkind Popcaan amongst others. None of these names are light weight features the mere promise of the having them on Davido’s project already increases his chances of breaking into foreign markets faster than many of his peers.
